MOST AMBITIOUS – (Looming by Henry Hussey)
A piece of work that involved the artist’s in-depth research on technique and collaboration with other skilled practitioners across continents to achieve. The scale, high level of detail, difficulty, determination suggest a truly aspirational practice.
MOST ENGAGING – (Square Bonsai by Leonardo Ulian)
This piece fascinated and captured the attention of visitors with it’s esthetics and craftsmanship. Engaging and motivating the viewer with the suggestion of what is possible when the human minds is focused and put to work. Clearly conveyed a focused and passionate artistic practice.
OVERALL IMPACT – (Urban Concourse by Gail Seres-Woolfson)
The strong visual language of lines, perspectives, composition and depth coupled with effective use of colour and sheer scale of this piece added to the presence in the main space. A bold piece in strong dialogue with other works around it and complimented other works by the same artist. Overall, this work captured and summed up the spirit of the summer exhibition.
